Attracting Long-Tailed Tits

Well, it has got a long tail but it’s not a tit!  Still we don’t get it right all the time do we?  Whatever it is, we love this cute little pink and grey flying fluff-ball with its habit of roaming our gardens in small flocks, and how lucky we are to have them!  This is a bird that had very little reason to come to our gardens until recently, unless it was to helpfully take the aphids from our roses.  But then they discovered Peanuts and now this gorgeous little bird appears in up to a quarter of our gardens.  And can its cuteness factor go any higher?  Yes!  Because it builds a stunning football-shaped nest entirely out of moss and cobwebs and gossamer and fairies' wings. (Well, we might have lied about the last one).

What do Long-Tailed Tits eat?

As they are relatively new to this garden feeding lark, Long-Tailed Tits are still getting used to the idea of free food. Peanuts are perfect for them and they are also starting to feed from suet products including Suet Cake and Suet Pellets.  They mostly visit hanging peanut and suet feeders but will also take peanut granules or suet pellets from a small bird table.
