Blackbird Bonus
Ground feeding birds are often overlooked by even the most experienced garden bird lovers. If I were a Blackbird I might have decided to emigrate a long time ago, if it wasn't for the fact that (thinking like a Blackbird here) I was so popular! So we've created our Blackbird Bonus - a rich blend of Seeds, Grains and Dried Fruit including Oats, Peanut Granules, Rolled Wheat, Sunflower Hearts, Flaked Maize and lots of yummy Raisins. This mix will appeal to birds such as Blackbirds, Thrushes and Robins which feed directly on the ground or a tray, but the added extras (especially Sunflower Hearts and Peanut Granules) means that House Sparrows, Dunnocks, Tits and Finches will love it too.
Here's what Blackbird Bonus is all about. Firstly it's designed to be fed either directly on the ground or on our small ground Ground Tray - or you could push the boat out and place it on a full height bird table which some species prefer. Blackbird Bonus opens your garden up to a large variety of birds especially Blackbird, Robin, Song Thrush, Wood Pigeon, Collared Dove, Chaffinch, Dunnock, Pheasant and maybe even a Mistle Thrush (now they are handsome!).
So, new resolution: don't forget to use Blackbird Bonus or you could personally be held responsible for encouraging Blackbirds to over-winter somewhere in mainland Europe. We’re not kidding!
Feeding tips:
If you're feeding directly on the ground, only put out as much as can be consumed during a single day as this will help keep any furry friends at bay. Our tip would be to feed from a small Ground Tray or a bird table.

Jenny says: My garden is blessed with both Song and Mistle Thrushes, plus more Blackbirds than you can count, so my small Ground Tray is a must here. I add apple cores and breadcrumbs to Blackbird Bonus to encourage as many of these ground feeders as possible. And it works!!
