Attracting Blue Tits

The Blue Tit is one of the most common and familiar little birds in our gardens and is with us all year round. They are cuteness personified – blue and yellow with the faintest tuft of feathers on their heads, plus they are the acrobats of the bird world and are fun to watch on any sort of feeder.  In the garden they eat loads of aphids and other small insects and spend a lot of time hanging up-side-down - just for your amusement.  Hanging a bird feeder for Blue Tits in an apple tree will encourage them to eat the less desirable creepy crawlies while also enjoying your generosity, leaving you with perfect unblemished apples! They love to nest in gardens too, so a nest box especially designed for them will bring you a great deal of entertainment.  A garden guest worth having!

What do Blue Tits Eat?

Blue Tits eat large numbers of aphids and caterpillars in our gardens and are without doubt a gardener's best friend. Attract Blue Tits with Peanuts, Sunflower Hearts and Black Sunflowers and any mixes that contain Peanut Granules or Sunflower Hearts in hanging feeders. They also love Suet which is high energy and a good winter food for these small birds.
